Faith, Patience, and a Little Country Music: Trusting God's Timing
Life has a funny way of making us wait, doesn’t it? And if you're anything like me, patience is not exactly your spiritual gift. I like a plan. I like a schedule. And if we’re being really honest here—I like things to move at my speed, preferably yesterday. But as much as I’d love to be the CEO of divine timing, that position has already been filled. And let’s be real—God’s timing is always, always better than mine.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself wrestling with this, especially when it comes to SeaJay’s Boutique. I have big, bold dreams for my business—an amazing women’s event room, expanding my clothing line, reaching thousands on social media, and growing a brand that empowers women in every season of life. And yet, I know that in my excitement, I sometimes get ahead of God. Deep down, I hear Him whisper: Step back. Take a breath. Enjoy where I have you—right now.
The Divine Detour: Learning Patience
One of the best lessons I’ve learned is that God’s delays are not His denials. I’ve watched doors I wanted to fling wide open stay firmly shut, only to realize later that they were protecting me from stepping into something I wasn’t ready for yet. It’s like when my 6-year-old wants to drive the car. Cute idea, but no, thank you.
And speaking of my kids, there’s a reason Trace Adkins' You’re Gonna Miss This hits me straight in the heart every single time. With a 23-year-old, a 17-year-old, and a 6-year-old, I know how fast time flies. I’ve blinked, and suddenly, my oldest is out there adulting (still wrapping my mind around that one). My teenager is on the cusp of independence. And my youngest? He still thinks I’m the coolest person on the planet—so you better believe I’m soaking up every single snuggle, every giggle, every “Mom, watch this!” moment. Because I know—one day, I’m gonna miss this.
And isn’t that true for our lives, our businesses, our callings? We get so caught up in what’s next that we forget to cherish right now. God isn’t just working in the future—He’s working in this very moment, in the waiting, in the growing, in the in-between. And if we rush ahead, we miss the beauty of what He’s doing today.
Trusting His Perfect Timing
Look, I won’t sugarcoat it—waiting is hard. Whether you’re waiting for clarity, for growth, for that big breakthrough, or for God to simply show you the next step, it can feel like you’re stuck in a spiritual waiting room with no estimated time of arrival. But here’s what I’ve come to know: God’s timing is never late. Never. Even when it feels like nothing is moving, He is.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Not my time. Not your time. His time. And that means whatever you’re waiting for—whether it’s in your family, your career, your dreams—it’s going to unfold exactly when it’s meant to. No delays. No missed opportunities. Just perfect, divine timing.
So, to my fellow dreamers, planners, and go-getters—let’s take a deep breath. Let’s trust that God is leading us exactly where we need to be. And most importantly, let’s embrace the beauty of right now—because one day, we’re gonna miss this.
I love you more than words can say, Cynthia ❤️❤️ Garringer and I’m so grateful to walk this journey with you. Your faith, drive, and patience (even when it’s tested) inspire me every day. No matter what doors open or close, I’ll always be by your side, believing in you and the incredible things God has in store. Life moves fast, but I wouldn’t want to face any of its twists and turns with anyone else. Here’s to trusting His timing—together. 🥰
